We have an active referral stream, a tight-knit team, thoughtfully designed offices, and a culture built around doing meaningful work without burning out. Your first week is spent in training and orientation, getting to know the team, the systems, and the space before your first client ever walks in. From there, we focus on building your caseload, providing strong administrative support, and surrounding you with colleagues who actually show up for each other.

We're a neurobiologically and trauma-informed practice, and we mean that as more than a phrase. Our work is grounded in understanding how trauma shapes the nervous system, and in the belief that healing is as much creative as it is clinical. If a creative, non-pathologizing, body- and brain-aware way of practicing is how you want to work, you'll find a whole team that shares it.

We're Especially Looking For

Clinicians with experience or training in any of the following. You don't need all of them, but if one or more is your thing, we really want to hear from you:

Brainspotting or EMDR
Expressive arts, somatic, or movement-based modalities
Mindfulness-based and non-pathologizing frameworks (ACT, IFS, Narrative Therapy)
Body image and eating concerns

What Sets Us Apart

We've built this practice so clinicians can do excellent work and stay well doing it. That means:

A guaranteed income floor for your first 90 days, so you're not gambling on how fast your caseload fills. You're paid a true floor (not a draw) while you ramp up, covering both caseload building and any credentialing delays.
No-shows and late cancellations paid in full, never absorbed on your own time.
Paid administrative and meeting time, because the work around the sessions is still work.
Your own office space, shared with just one other clinician, plus specialty spaces that may be available for session use, including an expressive art and family therapy room and an open group room.
An active referral stream from our waitlist. You will not be building a caseload from scratch.

What You'll Do

Conduct 15 to 20 minute consult calls with prospective clients
Complete intake assessments and develop treatment plans
Provide individual psychotherapy (in-person and/or virtual)
Maintain timely documentation, with progress notes completed by the end of each business week
Coordinate with parents/guardians when working with minors (monthly and as needed)
Maintain an average of 20 to 22 sessions per week
Participate in monthly staff meetings and group case consultation
Adhere to Heart Stone policies and procedures
Maintain a clean and welcoming office and shared space

What We Offer

Competitive flat session rate: $52 to $58 depending on licensure and experience

Group and workshop sessions as an additional earning opportunity ($95 to $119 per group), with a bonus for launching a new group

Monthly paid clinical group consultation and individual supervision, paid at the administrative rate
Generous PTO: up to 4 weeks (80 hours) annually, paid at your full session rate, accruing after 30 days
401(k) with up to 3.5% employer match
Tiered CEU reimbursement that grows with tenure: $750 (Year 1), $1,050 (Years 2 to 3), up to $1,500 (Year 4 and beyond) for full-time clinicians, plus a vault of trainings Heart Stone has already purchased, free to use

Qualifications

Required
Maine licensure: LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or conditional license (LCPC-C, LCSW-C, LMFT-C)
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
Strong communication skills and clear documentation practices
Comfort using (or learning) EHR systems. We use SimplePractice
Reliable time management and ability to work independently
Alignment with HSC's values and genuine openness to learning
Ability to reliably commute to our South Portland office for in-person sessions

Strongly Preferred
Experience or training in body image, eating concerns, or HAES-aligned approaches
Training in couples or family therapy modalities
Brainspotting or EMDR certification or active training
Experience with trauma-informed, somatic, body-based, or expressive modalities
Interest in non-pathologizing frameworks such as ACT, IFS, or Narrative Therapy

Compensation & Benefits

Session rate: $52 to $58 per session, based on licensure and experience

Administrative rate: $25/hour (staff meetings, supervision, required trainings)
Payroll processed biweekly
