Position Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor supports daily operations of the warehouse, vehicle fleet, and equipment by ensuring tools, materials, and vehicles are properly maintained, organized, and available for use. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision in both shop and field environments. The position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, maintaining tools, equipment, and workspaces in an organized and efficient manner. As a 6S Champion, this role promotes and sustains workplace organization, standardization, cleanliness, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the shop and warehouse environment. The Warehouse Supervisor may work with Newport Shop Mechanics to assist with vehicle projects and coordinate equipment, tools, and materials needed for deployment to job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving, Inventory & Shop Maintenance
· Inspect, unload, and organize deliveries; operate a forklift and maintain warehouse organization.
· Perform weekly inventory of consumables, reorder materials at minimum thresholds, and report price changes to management.
· Independently perform shop cleaning and janitorial duties (remove trash, clean bays, clean trench drains, sweep).
· Perform minor handyman repairs at the shop and office as needed.
· Independently perform groundskeeping (lawn mowing with riding and push mowers, weed whacking).
· Maintain exterior areas; conduct grounds cleanup using a chain saw and power broom (with required training/PPE).
· Manage asbestos waste by loading it on a pallet and moving it to enclosed roll-off containers.
· Complete asbestos training to be able to sign waste manifest.
· Become a 6S champion within the shops and the company. Inspect trucks and vehicles for proper tool storage.
Equipment & Tools Support
· Conduct preventative maintenance and small repairs on tools, extension cords, and small equipment.
· Communicate daily with Foremen to identify and coordinate equipment and material needs for the following day.
· Operate pneumatic tools safely and effectively.
· Operate a vehicle lift in accordance with manufacturer/shop safety procedures.
· Learn, retain, and clean concrete and small tool repairs independently after training.
· Administrate, review and fill orders for PMs using the material acquisition form process.
· Assist and train employees on vehicle checks and mileage reporting.
· Clean, organize, and detail vehicles inside and out.
Jobsite Support
· Transport trailers and haul debris to transfer stations.
· Break down and remove asbestos containments as directed, ensuring tools and equipment are returned in proper condition.
Seasonal & Safety Responsibilities
· Independently perform snow removal (plowing, salting, and shoveling) as needed, including nights and weekends.
· Follow established safety protocols for vehicles, equipment, and shop operations; use required PPE at all times.
· Report safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
· Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas remain in safe operating condition.
Equipment Used
· Standard hand and power tools, pneumatic tools, torque wrench, hydraulic/vehicle lift equipment, and mechanic shop tools.
· Forklift, riding and push mowers, weed whacker, power broom, chain saw, and snow removal equipment.
· Ability to read and follow manuals for operation and maintenance of cutting saws, core drilling equipment, and demolition tools.
· Must follow shop safety protocols (e.g., gas equipment not run indoors; overhead doors fully open or fully closed).
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently.
· Frequent climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and vehicles.
· Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
· Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
· Must wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, hearing protection, and protective clothing, as required.
Working Conditions
· Typical hours of 6:00am-2:30pm.
· Overtime may be required with minimal or no advance notice based on seasonal operational needs.
· Work performed indoors and outdoors, including exposure to all weather conditions year-round.
· Frequent exposure to noise, dust, vibration, fumes, exhaust, gasoline, diesel, and hazardous materials.
· Regular work around moving vehicles, heavy machinery, and equipment with moving parts.
Qualifications
· Responsible, reliable, and detail oriented.
· Demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadline efficiently.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Mechanical aptitude: cautious and safety focused.
· Certified in Operating Forklifts.
· Maine DEP Asbestos Abatement Supervisor License and medical clearance to wear a respirator while performing duties.
· Valid driver’s license with the ability to transport trailers.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
