Project Home FYI Housing Navigator

Description:

Project Home is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and detail-oriented Housing Navigator to join our Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) housing navigation team. Housing navigation is the foundation of our work, helping young adults experiencing housing instability access and maintain safe, stable, and sustainable housing. The Housing Navigator will work closely with clients, landlords, property managers, and community partners to remove barriers to housing, coordinate supportive services, and promote long-term housing stability.

The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with individuals facing housing instability or other complex life challenges, strong organizational and communication skills, and a compassionate, client-centered approach. This role requires the ability to build relationships across multiple systems, navigate public benefits and housing resources, and work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment to support clients as they transition into and work to retain permanent housing.

This is a full-time, in-person position with a salary of $55,000, a top-tier health insurance plan, 48 days of Paid Time Off per year (30 days PTO and 18 paid holidays), and participation in the Maine Retirement Investment Trust Roth IRA program.

FYI Housing Navigator Responsibilities:

Conduct client intakes and complete assessments to prepare participants for permanent housing.
Work directly with clients to assess housing opportunities and develop individualized housing and stabilization plans.
Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and community partners to increase housing opportunities for clients.
Conduct regular in-home check-ins and participate in follow-up meetings to support ongoing housing stability.
Guide clients through enrollment, eligibility, and rental assistance processes, helping them navigate HCV and other supportive programs while completing required documentation and adhering to reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely client records, enter program data, and prepare progress reports.
Collaborate with team members to implement housing stabilization strategies and prevent evictions.
Assist clients in navigating systems related to housing and homelessness, including but not limited to TANF, MaineCare, SNAP, Housing Choice Vouchers, Extended Care Vouchers, and General Assistance.
Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, landlords, service providers, and community partners in a timely manner.
Participate in program-related trainings and professional development opportunities.
Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
At least one year of experience in housing services, case management, social services, or a related field preferred.
Targeted Case Management (TCM) experience preferred.
Experience using Apricot or other client management database systems preferred.
Proficiency with Google Workspace and standard office software.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
