Full Job Description

Oxford Federal Credit Union is seeking a Real Estate Lender to join our team in Mexico, Maine. This is an exciting opportunity to build your career with a financially strong, member-owned credit union dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve their homeownership goals while serving communities throughout Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and York counties.

In this role, you'll develop strong relationships with new and existing members by providing exceptional service and identifying lending solutions that meet their needs. You'll originate, process, and underwrite home equity loans while partnering closely with CUSO Home Lending to facilitate first mortgage purchase and refinance transactions. You'll play a key role in delivering a smooth, member-focused lending experience while ensuring all lending activities comply with credit union policies, applicable federal and state laws, and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Meet with members to assess their residential financial needs Originate, processes and underwrite first mortgage purchase loans and refinances, as well as home equity and home improvement loans, according to federal, state and local regulations and credit union policy guidelines. Identify and refer other mortgage requests to CUSO Home Lending (MESHA, FHA, etc..) Establish terms and conditions of a loan and review the information with the member. Assemble and organize mortgage files to help ensure a timely turnaround and positive mortgage experience for the member.

Identify cross-sell opportunities and promote and sell all credit union products and services to help achieve or exceed credit union goals in the areas of sales, retention, revenue growth, member contact and member satisfaction.

Establish, promote, and maintain strong professional relationships with real estate agencies, appraisers, vendors, realtor associations, and title companies, strengthening the communities in which we live and work.

Have a working knowledge of secondary market guidelines and keep informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting real estate lending, ensuring quality service and adherence to regulatory requirements including but not limited to Fair Credit Reporting, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Flood Insurance and OFAC.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

(1) A two-year college degree, or any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.

(2) Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

(3) This position requires registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry on an annual basis and maintaining updates as needed.

Strong knowledge of the secondary mortgage market and experience with first and second mortgage lending.
Working knowledge of residential mortgage lending policies, practices and applicable Federal, State, local and credit union regulations.
Strong sales skills to cross-sell credit union products and services, with an outgoing personality and/or persuasive manner.
Committed to providing superior member service, and possess good analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in MS Office, various online applications including DP systems relative to financial institutions.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate proficiency and accuracy when working with details, numbers and names.
