Full Job Description

A leader in the media and journalism industry is hiring a Photo Director in Los Angeles, CA for a full-time position, onsite 5 days per week.

Photo Director Perks:

Opportunity to lead and rebuild a photo desk at a major media organization.
High-impact leadership role overseeing a team of editors.
Work across both print and digital platforms in a fast-paced newsroom.
Ability to shape workflow, standards, and editorial direction.
Competitive compensation with relocation support available.

Photo Director Requirements:

8-10+ years of experience in photo editing within a newsroom environment.
Proven leadership experience managing and developing editorial teams.
Strong background across both print and digital media.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
Experience working with major photo agencies (AP, Reuters, paparazzi agencies).

Photo Director Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of photo editors, providing structure and direction.
Oversee photo selection, editing, and visual storytelling across platforms.
Build and maintain relationships with external photo agencies and contributors.
Ensure fast, accurate, and high-quality photo output under breaking news deadlines.
Improve workflows, enforce standards, and elevate overall team performance.
