The Risk Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing Mono County's comprehensive risk management program, protecting the County's people, property, financial resources, and operations. Reporting to the County Administrative Officer, this position manages the County's liability, workers' compensation, safety, insurance, and enterprise risk management programs while developing proactive strategies to reduce organizational risk and ensure regulatory compliance. The Risk Manager works collaboratively with County departments, legal counsel, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to investigate claims, manage litigation, implement safety initiatives, negotiate insurance coverage, and promote a culture of risk awareness across the organization. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Risk Management, Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering or related field and three (3) years of experience administering occupational health and safety, risk management, workers’ compensation and/or similar programs.

Experience in a public agency setting is highly desirable.

Training courses in claims adjustment may be substituted on an hour-for-hour basis for up to six months of the required experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license. Professional certifications such as ARM, CPCU, AIC, or CSP are highly desirable.
