Pastry Assistant / Garde Manger Cook

Olea Restaurant & Lounge is looking for a dependable and motivated Pastry Assistant / Garde Manger Cook to join our culinary team.

This position will assist with pastry production while also supporting the garde manger station, including salads, cold appetizers, garnishes, sauces, and other assigned menu items. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to follow recipes, and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing desserts, pastries, fillings, sauces, and garnishes.
Prepare salads, cold appetizers, dressings, and other garde manger items.
Follow recipes, portion standards, and plating guidelines.
Complete daily prep lists and properly stock the station before service.
Maintain consistent food quality, freshness, and presentation.
Label, date, store, and rotate all products properly.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy, and cross-contamination procedures.
Keep workstations, refrigerators, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized.
Monitor inventory and communicate when products or supplies are running low.
Minimize food waste and report spoiled or damaged products.
Assist with restaurant service, banquets, and special events.
Complete all opening, closing, and cleaning responsibilities.
Support other kitchen stations when needed.

Qualifications

Previous pastry, bakery, prep cook, or garde manger experience preferred.
Basic baking, food preparation, and knife skills.
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail, consistency, and presentation.
Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a team.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
