Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Bakery Assistant to join our team. As a Bakery Assistant, you will assist in the production and preparation of baked goods, ensuring the highest quality products are delivered to our customers. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about baking and want to gain experience in a professional bakery setting.

As a bakery assistant, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following.

Food Preparation: Assisting with the preparation of our catalog of baked goods ranging from the most popular cookies and crispies to more challenging items like custom cakes and pastries. These tasks can range from preparing doughs and batters, baking, decorating, finising and packing product. Experience is preferred but ambitious, passionate and energetic candidates will be considered.

Baking: Operating baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters to bake various types of baked goods. This involves closely following recipes, monitoring baking times and temperatures to ensure that products are baked to perfection. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure all products are presented as attractively as possible.

Assisting with inventory control by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and finished products, restocking shelves, and rotating inventory to maintain freshness. They may also assist with receiving deliveries and conduct regular inventory counts and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.

Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the bakery area, including cleaning display cases, countertops, and equipment. This also includes proper food handling and storage practices as well.

Customer Service: Greeting customers, assisting them with their inquiries, and providing product recommendations. They should be knowledgeable about the bakery's offerings and able to answer questions about ingredients, pricing, and special orders. All employees balance a mix of baking and prep paired with customer service including but not limited to fulfilling orders, comfortability/experience with barista equipment and making coffee/espresso based drinks, baking, prepping, packaging, organizing, cleaning, etc.

Assisting Associates and Pastry Chef: Provides support with various tasks, such as preparing ingredients, assembling pastry components, and guiding others especially in the absence of the pastry chef. This requires good communication and teamwork skills to ensure that production runs smoothly.

Compliance and Safety: Adhering to food safety regulations and following proper sanitation practices to prevent contamination and ensure the safety of the food. They may also assist with maintaining compliance with health department regulations and bakery policies, as it pertains to other employees as well.

Teamwork: Maintain a positive and professional attitude while collaborating with other bakery staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service. We are a small team, dedicated to creating an incredible product and offering excellent service.

Requirements:

- Experience with barista equipment, coffee/tea/beverage service
- Previous experience working in a bakery or culinary environment is required
- Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients is a plus
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent product quality
- Excellent time management skills to meet production deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high level of accuracy, work intensity and a positive, welcoming demeanor
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
