Job Summary:  

The Group Fitness Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and administration of a dynamic and engaging group fitness program. The Group Fitness Coordinator leads recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of instructors while ensuring top-tier facility conditions and program quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the General Manager of Health and Fitness to create and maintain a comprehensive group exercise program.
Recruit and retain members by offering innovative, inclusive, and results-driven group fitness classes and workshops.
Ensure all group exercise areas are clean, fully equipped, and maintained to a first-class standard, including floors, walls, mirrors, and all related equipment.
Recruit, hire, onboard, train, evaluate, and coach group fitness instructors.
Monitor instructor performance and provide feedback and development as needed.
Maintain open and consistent communication with instructors regarding schedules, expectations, and class coverage.
Personally teach a minimum of two group fitness classes per week to maintain credibility and member engagement.
Coordinate with housekeeping and facility teams to promptly address any equipment or space issues.
Assist in developing and managing the departmental budget, including revenue tracking and cost control within management-established parameters.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Fitness, Exercise Science, or a related field required.
Current national Group Fitness Certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM).
Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification required.

Experience & Skills

Minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience in the fitness industry.
Ability to teach a wide variety of group fitness formats.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation and leadership presence.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with database systems or member management software is a plus.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Sound judgment and decision-making aligned with the center’s best interests.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand for long periods and physically demonstrate fitness movements.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and lift equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Regular use of hands to operate equipment and technology.
Capable of working in varied environmental conditions (e.g., noise, smells, heat/cold).
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person.
