Selby Preschool is an inclusive, high-quality early learning program designed with our youngest learners in mind. We are a play-based, developmental preschool serving children ages 1–5, with a strong emphasis on nurturing, responsive care for toddlers as they begin exploring the world around them.

As part of The Haven, our program is rooted in inclusion, connection, and individualized support. Our beautiful 32-acre campus provides space for children to move, discover, and learn through nature and outdoor play each day.

Our small class sizes allow teachers to build meaningful, caring relationships with each child and truly support their individual development. In our toddler classrooms, this means consistent routines, hands-on exploration, sensory experiences, and plenty of opportunities for early language and social growth.

With therapists on site, teachers are supported in meeting each child’s unique needs while creating engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom experiences. We value creativity, collaboration, and a teaching approach that follows the child while maintaining a strong sense of structure and care.

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for a teacher who is calm, patient, and deeply present—someone who understands that in the toddler years, relationships, routines, and responsive care are the foundation for everything else.

The right fit is warm, attentive, and genuinely enjoys being with young children. You know how to meet children where they are, support big emotions with confidence, and create a sense of safety through consistency and connection. You bring energy to your classroom, along with thoughtful, practical ideas that encourage exploration, language development, and early social skills.

You are a strong team player who values collaboration and communication, and you approach each day with flexibility, a sense of humor, and a deep respect for the nuances of early childhood.

Experience or familiarity with Reggio Emilia and Waldorf-inspired approaches is valued, along with an understanding of Conscious Discipline and relationship-based practices, including co-regulation and social-emotional development.

What You'll Do:

Guide Classroom Experiences

Create a calm, engaging classroom rooted in consistent routines, hands-on exploration, and developmentally appropriate experiences that support each child’s growth.

Build Meaningful Relationships

Develop strong, trusting connections with children and families, using everyday moments to build language, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Support Social-Emotional Development

Help children navigate big feelings through co-regulation, modeling, and intentional teaching, fostering early self-regulation and positive peer interactions.

Create a Nurturing Environment

Maintain a classroom that is safe, organized, and welcoming—where children feel secure, supported, and excited to explore.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or child care setting or in working with persons who have a developmental disability. College vocational or technical training equal to 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or 720 classroom hours can substitute for the required experience.
Level two background screening and rescreening every five years.
Valid Florida driver’s license, a safe driving record and proof of motor vehicle insurance

Physical Requirements:

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
