Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting patients through life-changing procedures? Join our compassionate and dedicated team at The Medical Eye Center as a Surgical Coordinator, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for patients undergoing surgery.

About the Role

As a Surgical Coordinator, you’ll be the central liaison between the patient, surgeon, surgical facility, and care team. You’ll manage all aspects of surgical scheduling—pre-op, post-op, and everything in between—while providing exceptional service and maintaining seamless communication throughout the patient journey. Key Responsibilities

Coordinate all surgical logistics between patients, surgeons, surgical facilities, and care teams
Schedule procedures and appointments, ensuring patients are fully informed
Prepare surgical documentation and ensure all forms are reviewed and signed
Submit surgical bookings, lens orders, insurance information, and consent forms
Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care guidelines
Respond to patient and physician inquiries with professionalism and empathy
Verify insurance eligibility and resolve related issues with internal billing teams
Monitor and optimize the surgeon’s OR schedule, minimizing gaps and cancellations
Support teammates with scheduling accuracy and contribute to continuous improvement
Uphold strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
Experience as a Surgical Coordinator highly preferred
Background in ophthalmology is a strong plus
Familiarity with insurance processes and medical billing a plus

Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Friendly, empathetic approach to patient care
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle last-minute changes
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
