SUMMARY: Responsible for directly supporting the mission and vision of Revive Recovery Resource Center by working with key sectors of the community (education, business, government, health, public safety, community supports, etc.) to advance the strategic initiatives of the RCO. The PRSS will need and develop a unique set of skills and abilities to be effective across a broad range of responsibilities that include supporting the development and support of a large volunteer network; RCO development and operations; facilitating outreach and dispatching volunteers; coordinating with community partners, fundraising, public events, and administrative accountability including the reporting requirements for Federal, State and local grants & donors; and developing resources that advance the quality and coverage of Recovery-oriented services and capacity in the local and regional communities. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to ensure that high-quality Peer Recovery Support Services are consistently delivered to participants in Greater Nashua and make referrals to The Doorway as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develop and maintain a regional network of community stakeholders to establish and maintain a strategic recovery-oriented organizational framework
● Contribute to the successful implementation of the RCO strategic plan
● Support the organization’s requirements for accreditation and licensing requirements
● Support the Director of RRC to coordinate activities and execute RCO work plans
● Provide high-quality Peer Recovery Support Services including but not limited to Telephone Recovery Support and Recovery Coaching
● Submit monthly and quarterly evaluation and budget reporting to funding agencies as needed.
● Support key volunteers and RCO staff to further build recovery capacity and ensure schedules of programs and services meet the needs of the organization
● Coordinate logistics support for program implementation, including RCO scheduled activities, trainings, workshops, outreach, and events
● Develop and maintain an Outreach plan that serves at-risk and disenfranchised populations in the community
● Support the recovery-related needs of community members and offer comprehensive harm reduction programming when possible
● Attend meetings or public events as requested
● Develop key social marketing and collateral materials for strategic messaging and building audiences across the age spectrum
● Attend community events and promote Revive and its services to build awareness
● Complete other tasks as assigned
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
● Working knowledge of a variety of addiction recovery modalities and ability to articulate the delivery of multiple pathways of recovery in a community-based setting
● Ability to work with diverse populations and perspectives, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness, while brokering positive relationships
● Ability to clearly articulate succinctly purpose, goals, and objectives both verbally and in writing in a manner that invites community and stakeholder involvement
● Ability to listen and integrate community stakeholder feedback and recommendations;
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
● Ability to implement, track, follow through, and meet grant deadlines and obligations, including report writing and submissions
● Ability to work autonomously within established framework
● Excellent communication, organizational, planning and time management skills
● Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
● Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as necessary
● Demonstrated skill and competence in promotions using social media (website development a plus) and event planning
● Demonstrates proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Publisher) G-Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Forms) and possesses the ability to learn new applications
● Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information
● Knowledge of the local and regional communities is preferred
● Maintains a valid driver's license and own has reliable transportation
PERSONAL QUALITIES
This position will require an enthusiastic, compassionate, empathetic, and energetic individual who is capable of communication and promotion of outreach outside of and within the recovery center while continuing to ensure that someone is present at the center during normal hours of operation. This position requires a comprehensive understanding and respect for all paths of recovery while being mindful of the traditions representative of the many paths of recovery. The individual shall hold patience and a gentle approach to identify person-centered strengths, needs, abilities, and recovery goal-oriented approaches that help promote progress in each participant’s recovery journey. The candidate should be able to respond and manage potential crises while maintaining the safety of all center staff and participants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree, or significant demonstrated experience with a minimum of 1-3 years in the substance use recovery field, social policy, social work, criminal justice, marketing and communications, public health, or related field.
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
