Job Posting: Master Electrician – Underground Marble Quarry

Location: Danby, Vermont

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Master Electrician to oversee and maintain all electrical systems within an active underground marble quarry. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable operation of heavy mining equipment, power distribution infrastructure, ventilation systems, pumping stations, and facility controls in a demanding underground industrial environment.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with industrial power systems, high-load equipment, and safety-critical environments, along with the leadership ability to manage electrical projects and coordinate with operations personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems in an underground quarry environment

Oversee high- medium- and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, and heavy equipment electrical systems

Maintain and service ventilation systems, dewatering pumps, conveyors, compressors, and cutting equipment

Diagnose faults in motors, VFDs, control panels, switchgear, and automated systems

Plan and execute electrical upgrades, expansions, and preventive maintenance programs

Ensure compliance with electrical codes, mining safety standards, and site safety protocols

Maintain documentation including schematics, maintenance logs, and inspection records

Coordinate lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices underground

Supervise contractors and assist with project planning, budgeting, and scheduling

Support emergency response and rapid restoration of power or critical systems when needed

Required Qualifications

Current Master Electrician license (state of Vermont or ability to obtain)

Strong experience in industrial or heavy commercial electrical systems

Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, switchgear, transformers, and high-amperage systems

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings

Experience troubleshooting complex electrical equipment in demanding environments

Familiarity with electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures

Ability to work safely in underground conditions including confined spaces and varying temperatures

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in mining, quarry, or underground industrial operations

Knowledge of pump systems, and process automation

Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, or industrial controls

MSHA or equivalent safety training (or willingness to obtain)

Leadership or supervisory experience

Physical Requirements

Ability to work underground for extended periods

Ability to lift and handle electrical equipment and tools

Comfortable working around heavy machinery and industrial environments
