Full Job Description

Title: Senior Employment Attorney — Executive Representation

Location: Remote (New York-based)

Compensation: $170,000–$240,000 base, plus a results-based bonus *10% of contingency settlements based on the hours worked on the case

Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with match up to 4%

About the Role

We represent executives against their employers. Most of our matters are resolved at the negotiating table — through direct negotiation with defense counsel and through mediation.

You will carry your own docket of executive matters: wrongful termination and retaliation, discrimination and harassment, whistleblower claims, severance and executive agreements including non-competes, equity and compensation disputes. You will build the case theory, develop the leverage, value the claim, and negotiate the resolution yourself. You will draft and file motions and try cases when a matter calls for it — and unlike many firms on our side of the table, we have the trial experience to make that credible. But you will be measured first and foremost on the outcomes you negotiate.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a demonstrated negotiator. Strong candidates will have:

A quantified settlement record. Cumulative negotiated recoveries of $5 million or more across your career, including several individual resolutions in the six figures or above.
Four or more years of employment law experience, with responsibility for your own matters rather than a supporting role on someone else's.
A repeatable method for valuing a claim. You can explain how you arrive at a number, defend it against a skeptical adversary, and revise it as the facts develop.
Experience negotiating across a multi-party table. In-house counsel, outside defense counsel, HR, insurers, and mediators each have different incentives. You know how to find the person who actually controls the number.
Accurate forecasting. You can tell us which of your matters will resolve this quarter and be right most of the time.
Litigation that creates leverage. Strong research and writing, and motions that make the other side want to be done.
Client counseling under pressure. Executives are sophisticated, high-expectation clients making a decision that affects their career and their family. You can walk a client through a hard number without either overselling or losing their confidence.
Active New York bar membership in good standing. California admission is a plus.
You run without supervision. Remote, autonomous, and accountable.

Also Valuable

Established relationships with respected employment mediators in New York or California.
Time on the defense side of executive employment disputes — you know how the other side prices risk and where its authority actually sits.
Fluency with executive compensation: equity, deferred compensation, carried interest, and claw backs.
