Full Job Description

Highly rated established Mansfield law firm seeks paralegal/legal secretary for busy private law practice. Previous legal experience a definite benefit. Excellent working environment. Wages commensurate with experience.

Candidates will need to be able to undertake a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, working under the supervision of an attorney and also provide support in assigned legal cases and matters. The goal is to sustain efficiency of all office procedures and case management so as to guarantee reliability, consistency and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to one or more lawyers
Effectively communicate and interact with witnesses, clients, office colleagues and attorneys
Greet visitors and perform initial screening of clients
Conduct documentary research
Source and verify important case intelligence
Produce and file various legal documents such as correspondence, motions, demand packages, discovery, and appeals.
Preserve an updated case record system in case management system
Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls as appropriate
Maintain and update inventories of contact details
Facilitate the meeting of critical deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders

Skills

Proven experience as legal secretary and/or paralegal preferred
Knowledge of legal terminology and court system
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, Medicare and Medicaid portals)
Working knowledge of litigation case management software systems is a plus
Proficiency in both spoken and written English
Outstanding time-management and keyboarding skills
Ability to multitask and being comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people
Legal Secretary and/or Paralegal certification or diploma a plus
