Independently Licensed Clinical Supervisor (Small Caseload)

Position Summary

The Independently Licensed Clinical Supervisor provides clinical oversight, supervision, and leadership to behavioral health staff while maintaining a small, clinically appropriate caseload. This role ensures high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based service delivery in alignment with ASAM criteria, OhioDBH standards, CARF accreditation requirements, and organizational policies. The Supervisor supports staff development, promotes client-centered care, and contributes to program operations and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Supervision & Staff Development

Provide formal clinical supervision to assigned staff in accordance with Ohio licensing board requirements
Monitor and support staff in delivering evidence-based practices, including ASAM-informed care.
Review and approve clinical documentation for quality, compliance, and medical necessity.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to enhance clinical skills.
Support onboarding and ongoing training of new clinical staff, interns, and peer supporters as applicable.
Ensure supervisees adhere to ethical standards, scope of practice, and agency policies.

Clinical Oversight & Program Quality

Ensure services meet regulatory and payer requirements, including Medicaid documentation and billing standards.
Participate in utilization review, chart audits, and quality assurance activities.
Monitor client outcomes and support implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Assist in maintaining program compliance with OhioDBH, CARF, and other regulatory bodies.
Collaborate with program leadership on policy development, workflow improvements, and risk management.

Direct Clinical Services (Small Caseload)

Maintain a limited caseload of clients, providing:
Individual counseling
Clinical assessment and treatment planning
Crisis intervention as needed
Ensure all services are timely, clinically appropriate, and accurately documented.
Model best practices in engagement, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented services.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain supervision records, licensure documentation, and compliance tracking.
Monitor staff productivity and support balanced workload expectations.
Assist with scheduling and coordination of clinical coverage when needed.
Participate in program planning, grants, or reporting activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related behavioral health field.
Current independent licensure in the State of Ohio (LISW-S, LPCC-S, or IMFT-S required)
Eligible to provide clinical supervision per Ohio licensing board standards.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Experience with ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care, and co-occurring disorders strongly preferred.
