We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Manager to lead the daily operations of our Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Oak Forest, Illinois.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes ownership of hotel performance, maintains high standards, develops a dependable team, and understands how to balance guest satisfaction with strong financial results.
The General Manager will be responsible for all areas of the hotel, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast operations, sales, revenue performance, labor management, brand compliance, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership and oversight of all hotel departments.
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and retain a professional and dependable team.
- Build a positive workplace culture based on accountability, teamwork, respect, and guest service.
- Maintain compliance with all IHG brand standards, operating procedures, safety requirements, and quality-assurance expectations.
- Monitor guest satisfaction scores and online reviews, identify recurring concerns, and implement corrective action.
- Respond professionally and promptly to guest complaints and service-recovery situations.
- Ensure guestrooms, public areas, meeting spaces, exterior areas, and back-of-house facilities are consistently clean and properly maintained.
- Conduct regular property inspections and follow up until deficiencies are fully corrected.
- Manage room revenue, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, departmental expenses, payroll, and overall profitability.
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operational reports.
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget and property-level action plans.
- Control labor and purchasing costs without compromising guest service or brand standards.
- Work closely with the sales team to develop corporate, group, government, crew, sports, and local business accounts.
- Participate in revenue-management discussions and help establish effective pricing and inventory strategies.
- Develop relationships with local businesses, organizations, vendors, and community partners.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure reliable management coverage.
- Oversee preventative maintenance, life-safety requirements, vendor performance, and capital-improvement projects.
- Protect hotel assets and maintain effective controls over cash, inventory, purchasing, and employee access.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment, safety, health, and lodging regulations.
- Maintain open and transparent communication with ownership regarding performance, staffing, guest concerns, maintenance issues, and operational risks.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of hotel management experience, preferably as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Operations, or Operations Manager.
- Previous experience with an IHG-branded hotel is strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of front-office, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast, sales, and revenue-management operations.
- Demonstrated ability to improve guest satisfaction, operational standards, and financial performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to recruit, train, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
- Comfortable reviewing budgets, profit-and-loss statements, payroll, forecasts, and hotel performance reports.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays when hotel operations require management presence.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior General Manager experience at a limited-service or select-service hotel.
- Familiarity with IHG systems, brand standards, quality evaluations, and guest-satisfaction programs.
- Experience leading a hotel through operational improvement or performance recovery.
- Local market knowledge and established business relationships in Oak Forest, Tinley Park, Matteson, or the surrounding Chicago Southland area.
- Hospitality management degree or relevant professional certification.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
- Visible and actively involved in daily hotel operations.
- Willing to assist the team during busy periods.
- Proactive rather than reactive.
- Detail-oriented and consistent with follow-through.
- Financially disciplined and results-driven.
- Approachable with guests but firm and fair with employees.
- Able to communicate honestly and professionally with ownership.
- Focused on long-term team development—not continuous employee turnover.
- Proud to maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and brand-compliant hotel.

- Performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Paid time off.
