Engineering Technician (Part-Time, Entry Level)Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Engineering Technician to support our Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams. This entry-level, part-time position is ideal for individuals pursuing or recently completing technical training in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CNC Machining, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation, or a related field.

The Engineering Technician will assist with CNC programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, repair, CAD design, process improvement projects, and preventive maintenance activities. This position offers valuable hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing equipment and provides training in engineering, maintenance, automation, and manufacturing operations.

All tools, uniforms, and required safety equipment are provided.

Responsibilities

Assist Engineering and Maintenance teams with machine setup, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization.
Support CNC programming and operation of waterjets, lasers, CNC cutters, routers, and other manufacturing equipment.
Assist with CAD design, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
Operate 3D printers for prototyping, fixture development, and engineering projects.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with guidance from Engineering and Maintenance personnel.
Assist with equipment installation, startup, calibration, testing, and commissioning.
Participate in process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
Perform preventive maintenance activities including inspections, lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and documentation.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment and process issues.
Maintain parts inventory records and assist with ordering replacement components as needed.
Operate production equipment for troubleshooting and testing after repairs or modifications.
Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Currently enrolled in, recently graduated from, or pursuing coursework at a technical college or trade school is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing equipment and machinery.
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
Good communication, organizational, and computer skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and participate in hands-on training.

Ideal Qualifications

Experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, or machine setup.
Exposure to waterjet cutting, laser cutting, CNC machining, or automated manufacturing equipment.
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software.
Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and additive manufacturing.
Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics.
Experience with machining, welding, fabrication, maintenance, or automation systems.
Interest in process engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment and wear required PPE.

Schedule

Part-time position with flexible scheduling.
Potential for future full-time opportunities.
