General Manager -Electrical Services
An established and growing electrical services company is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead daily operations, support field performance and help drive the continued growth of the business.
This position requires strong electrical-industry knowledge and a practical understanding of residential, commercial and custom electrical work. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who understands how to manage technicians, schedules, projects, customers and operational priorities while maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can balance field operations, customer service, profitability and team development.
Position Overview
The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of the electrical service and project teams. This includes managing scheduling and dispatch, supervising field personnel, supporting estimating and project execution, monitoring productivity and ensuring that work is completed safely, professionally and profitably.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working with electricians, apprentices, office personnel, customers, contractors and company ownership. They should be able to identify operational problems, develop practical solutions and hold the team accountable while maintaining a respectful and positive company culture.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the electrical service and project departments.
- Lead, support and hold field and office personnel accountable.
- Manage technician scheduling, dispatching, workload distribution and daily priorities.
- Match employees to jobs based on skill level, experience and project requirements.
- Monitor job progress, field productivity, labor efficiency and schedule performance.
- Provide technical and operational guidance on residential, commercial and custom electrical work.
- Review service issues, project challenges, change orders and customer concerns.
- Help ensure that jobs are properly staffed, planned, documented and completed.
- Work closely with estimators, project managers, dispatchers and field supervisors.
- Assist with estimating, scope review, job planning and project handoff.
- Review plans, specifications, blueprints and electrical scopes of work.
- Support purchasing, material coordination and job-site readiness.
- Monitor open jobs, unfinished work, return visits and scheduling backlogs.
- Help improve gross margin, labor recovery, job costing and operational efficiency.
- Ensure that company policies, procedures and safety standards are followed.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance management and employee development.
- Address employee-performance issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, vendors and employees.
- Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Help establish clear goals, operating standards and performance expectations.
- Provide regular updates to ownership regarding operations, staffing, risks and opportunities.

Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in the electrical contracting or electrical services industry.
- Strong working knowledge of residential and commercial electrical systems.
- Experience with custom residential, tenant improvement, service or specialty electrical work is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing electricians, technicians, apprentices or field crews.
- Strong understanding of scheduling, dispatching and field-service operations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, blueprints, specifications and scopes of work.
- Understanding of estimating, labor requirements, materials and job costing.
- Experience managing multiple jobs, technicians and priorities at the same time.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining professionalism and respect.
- Strong customer-service skills and the ability to resolve difficult situations.
- Ability to work effectively with company ownership and other department leaders.
- Comfortable using field-service, scheduling, estimating or project-management software.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman-level electrical knowledge, electrical license or significant field experience.
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Service Manager, Project Manager, Field Supervisor or Senior Estimator.
- Experience managing both residential service and commercial project work.
- Experience with custom homes, high-end residential projects or design-build electrical work.
- Familiarity with permitting, inspections, code requirements and utility coordination.
- Experience developing technicians, supervisors and future managers.
- Knowledge of financial performance, gross margin, labor efficiency and departmental budgeting.
- Experience implementing systems, procedures and performance standards.
