About the Company

We are a small but high-performing distributor of industrial measurement and inspection solutions, also providing precision measurement services to customers across North America. As a subsidiary of a European parent company, we maintain a strong focus on accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting. We operate with a lean structure, and this position plays a vital role in the financial integrity and operational success of our U.S. business.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Part-Time Accountant (24 hours per week) to take ownership of the company’s day‑to‑day accounting operations. This is a sole-accountant role, responsible for executing and improving all core accounting functions, managing financial reporting to our European parent company, and supporting management with clear and accurate financial insights. There is potential for this role to become full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
Ensure fast, precise reporting to the European parent organization.
Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Process vendor invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements.
Manage customer invoicing and monitor collections.
Maintain AP/AR aging and cash flow tracking.
Payroll & HR-Related Accounting
Coordinate with payroll provider to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Record payroll journal entries and maintain compliance documentation.
Banking, Cash Management & Reconciliation
Perform bank account reconciliations.
Monitor cash flow and support forecasting.
Manage credit card reconciliations and expense reporting.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Maintain accurate inventory records for distributed products and service parts.
Collaborate with operations to ensure proper costing and inventory adjustments.
Compliance, Controls & Administration
Ensure adherence to internal controls and reporting standards.
Support external audits and parent-company financial reviews.
Maintain organized accounting documentation.
Process Improvement
Evaluate and improve accounting processes for accuracy and efficiency.
Support system or reporting enhancements as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a small company or sole-charge role.
Experience in distribution or service industries preferred.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end processes.
Experience with international parent-company reporting is a plus.
Proficiency with Quickbooks accounting software.
Strong Excel skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Part-time: estimated 24 hours per week.
Location: In-office work in Swarthmore, PA.
