Full Job Description

The Therapist counsel children, adolescents and adults affected by abuse/neglect, domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, mental, and emotional issues.

The service interventions will include: Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, crisis intervention, targeted case management, client advocacy, court appearances, home visits, clinical assessments, prevention, and education.

Job Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Human Services Fields – from an accredited university or college, and with documentation of supervised clinical experience.

Must have minimally 6-8 years work experience in social work, counseling or human services.
Knowledge of the DSMV TR diagnoses, crisis management, substance abuse, intensive case management, community resources, rehabilitation supports preferred for children, at-risk youth, and their families.
Knowledgeable of the DFCS system, legal system, educational system, mental health system, ecological system.
Knowledgeable of Client’s Rights
Competent with the Professional Code of Ethics
Knowledgeable in writing Treatment Plans, BIRP notes, Discharge plans
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and team player concepts.
Court Testimony Experience a Plus

Experience in writing Bio-psycho-socials, Behavioral Health assessments, Behavioral Plans other clinical assessments.

Must maintain yearly professional liability insurance.

REPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrates understanding of the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and assists clients in identifying, securing, and sustaining a range of resources needed to facilitate family independence.

2. Understands the key values and activities of intensive case management.

3. Intensive in-home counseling to maintain and stabilize a child’s permanency.

4. Assist in preparing for the safe return of child to parent/caretaker.

5. Demonstrates understanding of the overall nature, course, and treatment of mental illness.

6. Demonstrates knowledge of co-occurring illness process.

7. Provide substance abuse treatment and education.

8. Assists in formulating a service plan and/or educational plans to insure that needed services are delivered.

9. Provides service linkage and case monitoring and adjustments in services delivered.

10. Conducts problem solving in individual sessions to assist clients in addressing challenges (i.e., domestic violence, trauma, anger /stress management, enhanced behavior management for children/youth, grief counseling, separation issues, enhance methods of appropriate disciplinary techniques.

11. Serves as an advocate to acquire supportive services for clients.

12. Coordinates family involvement in the services and with DFCS.

13. Evaluates services that are provided to ensure that necessary service improvements are made to increase outcomes.

14. Assist in coordinating access to housing, social services, substance abuse services and other community resources and consults with these resources to assist the individuals/families in achievement of desired goals.

15. Understands and responds to client rights and advocates for program participants.

16. Assists program participants in daily and independent living skills.

17. Monitors and assesses program participant’s behavior and functioning relevant in supporting treatment plan development.

18. Serves as a conduit and link between program participants and the community services and resources.

19. Assists program participants in learning appropriate social skills and behaviors.

20. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the development of a plan of care that is based on individual strengths, needs abilities preferences.

21. Conducts functional assessments to aid in the development of the individual service plan.

22. Participates in organizational processes, as directed by the program director/clinical director, which may include quality assurance, peer record review and health/safety activities.

23. Provides weekly updates to DFCS of assigned caseload and progress /barriers with treatment interventions.

Pay: $32.50 - $40.00 per hour
