Summary

The Associate Underwriting Analyst provides support to the Underwriting department as directed by the Underwriting Leadership Team. This position requires the individual to have strong underwriting and digital initiatives for the organization. Will be expected to work closely with other members of the leadership team and other subject matter experts across the organization.

Responsibilities

The Associate Underwriting Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain thorough knowledge of the underwriting and technology initiatives, as well as an understanding of how these may impact the overall organization including our members.
Serve as point of contact for other departments as respects to our policy administration systems
Collaborate with other departments to provide high level training of how the insurance department utilizes the various digital platforms needed to operate.
Assist in the review and analysis of impacts of changes in products, coverages, underwriting rules and forms to our digital platform.
Analyze, and utilize data and feedback from Insurance Operations Department to identify opportunities to improve business processes that benefit the overall member and/or broker experience.
Serve as a project lead for future technological needs including:
- Conduct and/or help coordinate/prepare testing projects
- Manage timelines, and documentation as required by project.

Provide underwriting support as directed in an Associate Underwriter role as outlined in their respective job description(s) and Underwriting Authority.

Required skills

Good technical P&C underwriting knowledge and skills. Experience in training of processes and procedures through both formal and informal settings. Highly-developed organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and control work environment.

Self-motivated and independent who can deliver quality work in a timely fashion.
Results-oriented, self-motivated problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate skills with Word, Powerpoint, Excel software products

Excellent communicator both written and verbally; communicates frequently in a clear, concise manner to build working relationships; able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Strong organization skills, high energy, and customer service attitude necessary

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to climb, stoop, bend, reach or sit for up to 3 hours at a time. The employee must occasionally lift/and or move up to 20lbs
Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly view computer screen
Must have adequate hearing to perform job tasks

Experience & Education

4 year degree (or directly-related equivalent experience) preferred
3 years of experience in training, implementation and management of projects
3 years of underwriting experience, P&C preferred
Customer-oriented attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to establish and nurture beneficial business relationships
Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and solve complex problems
Capability to negotiate with and influence others
Analytically and mathematically minded to analyze data and create necessary reports

Compensation: The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the location, skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for additional incentive compensation upon achievement of individual and company goals.
