Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Records Specialist, where your expertise will be pivotal in managing and safeguarding patient information with precision and care. In this energetic role, you will oversee the accurate organization, maintenance, and confidentiality of medical records, ensuring compliance with health information management standards and healthcare privacy regulations. Additional Details

Applicants must have at least 3 years' experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities
Applicants must have strong ICD-10 knowledge
LVN/LPN License preferred, not required
3 years' experience in Medical Records
Local travel required around Marion, Pinckneyville, Greenville, and Eldorado areas of southern Illinois. Applicants must have reliable transportation. Mileage is reimbursed.

Responsibilities

Manage electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems to ensure accurate documentation and easy retrieval of patient information.
Organize, file, and maintain medical records in accordance with health regulation policies and confidentiality standards.
Verify the completeness and accuracy of medical documentation, including medical coding and billing information, to support revenue cycle management.
Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy protection laws by safeguarding sensitive patient data and adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to update patient records, process record requests, and facilitate smooth information flow across departments.
Conduct regular audits of medical records to maintain regulatory compliance and improve records management processes.
Assist with training staff on health information regulatory compliance, medical terminology, and proper records handling procedures.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office administration or health information management, preferably within a clinical setting.
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting tasks.
Familiarity with health regulation policies, healthcare privacy laws, and clinical confidentiality policies essential for maintaining compliance.
Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail for managing complex medical records accurately.
Understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and revenue cycle management processes to support billing accuracy.
Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while providing outstanding customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
Prior experience working with health information regulatory compliance standards is highly desirable.
