A successful candidate for a Deckhand position should have experience working as a standard deckhand on a vessel, with the ability to perform welding tasks on the deck, including preparing metal surfaces, fitting components, and welding repairs using various welding techniques. They also must have experience working as part of a team while maintaining a safe working environment.
The project will run 12 hours per day, operating seven days a week, with an expected completion date in October, 2026.
We will need an immediate workforce of in the Asheville / Marion, NC area.

Assisting in mooring and securing lines

Maintaining cleanliness on deck, including sweeping, chipping, and painting

Handling cargo and equipment on deck

Operating deck machinery like winches and cranes

Performing basic maintenance and repairs on deck hardware

Standing watch, observing navigational conditions

Reading and interpreting blueprints and welding specifications

Preparing metal surfaces for welding, including grinding and cleaning

Cutting and fitting metal components to be welded

Performing welding operations using various techniques (MIG, TIG, stick) depending on the material and application

Inspecting welds for quality and defects

Maintaining welding equipment and supplies

Proficient welding skills in different positions (flat, vertical, overhead)

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities

Maritime safety awareness and compliance with regulations

Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

Active DL and clean driving record is required

Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and safety procedures

Physical fitness and stamina to work in demanding outdoor conditions and ability to drive under pressure for extended periods.

Must be able to bend, lift, stretch according to site requirements.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Forklift experience a plus, but not a requirement

Experience in handling building materials.

Ability to work on feet for 810 hours with repeated bending, crouching, and kneeling
Pay: $30 - $35/Hourly
