Overview of the role
Screen all Crisis Center applicants for compliance with Iowa Administrative Code. Communicate professionally with candidates via email and phone to send assessments, schedule interviews and complete the background, reference and technology check process. Work with successful candidates to schedule new hire and onboarding process. Practice good customer service: answering phones promptly and professionally, passing on messages, following through on requests, etc. Coordinate Crisis Center calendars (i.e., Program Manager, Program Coordinators, Crisis Center Supervisors and Chief Operating Officer) to schedule meetings, as needed.
Shift: This role will work Monday – Friday, first shift, 9am - 5pm, five days in a row. Some meeting attendance will be required outside of normal shift hours. This role is hybrid and will be required to work some days from the Cedar Rapids Headquarters office..

- Submit monthly data reports to funders and stakeholders, with oversight from the Program Manager
- Coordinate Crisis Center calendars (i.e., Program Manager, Program Coordinators and Chief Operating Officer) and schedule meetings, as needed
- Special projects, as needed
What you need
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
- Or bachelor’s degree in related field with 30 hours of human service coursework.
- Or bachelor’s degree in any field plus one year of relevant experience.
- Comfort using computer software including Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Electronic Health Records, etc.
- Basic typing and data entry skills.
- High comfort with computers with ability to type quickly and multi-task.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Private home office to ensure confidentiality.
- Reliable, high-speed internet at home (Minimum 15 Mbps download speed / 5 Mbps download speed; wired internet connection required) OR the ability to work all shifts from the Cedar Rapids office.
- Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in the Cedar Rapids area.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
- Experience in crisis services preferred.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
- Background in motivational interviewing preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working in the mental health, substance use, and/or problem gambling field preferred.
Role Overview:
The Hiring Specialist is an integral part of the success of the Crisis Center program. The Hiring Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the hiring process for the Crisis Center, including, but not limited to, screening resumes, scheduling and confirming interviews and conducting the reference, background and technical check process, and ensuring a seamless and professional candidate experience. Clear and consistent communication is essential to this role, as the Hiring Specialist will frequently engage with both internal teams and external candidates throughout the hiring process. The Hiring Specialist will work closely with Crisis Center Leadership. Additionally, the Hiring Specialist will assist with special projects as needed.
