Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists by accurately documenting patient encounters and maintaining medical records. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as proficiency in typing and transcribing medical documentation. The Ophthalmic Scribe will ensure that all patient information is recorded accurately and efficiently, allowing our healthcare providers to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

Accompany the ophthalmologist during the patient examination
Document the results of the examination as dictated by the ophthalmologist
Record the patient’s medical history, including any allergies, past surgeries or other relevant information
Transcribe the ophthalmologist’s oral or written instructions and treatment plans
Accurately transcribe patient encounters during examinations and procedures.
Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) with detailed notes.
Document medical history, symptoms, and treatment plans as directed by the physician.
Assist in the management of patient flow within the office or clinic setting.
Ensure compliance with medical documentation standards and confidentiality regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Stay informed about ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, and physiology to enhance documentation accuracy.

Experience

Previous experience in a medical office or emergency room setting is preferred.
Familiarity with medical records systems and electronic health record (EHR) software is advantageous.
Strong typing skills with the ability to transcribe quickly and accurately.
Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is essential.
Understanding of anatomy and physiology as it pertains to eye care is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are required for effective documentation.
