Buyer / Procurement Specialist (Manufacturing) – ERP/MRP

A hands-on Buyer role with real ownership
DEMA Engineering Company is hiring a Buyer / Procurement Specialist to support our manufacturing operation from our St. Louis headquarters. This is an influential individual contributor role where you'll run day-to-day purchasing and RFQs, partner closely with internal stakeholders, and keep materials and services flowing to support production.

Epicor ERP is preferred; similar ERP/MRP experience is welcome (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, Infor, etc.).

What you'll do (Buyer / Purchasing / Procurement)
You'll support a mix of direct materials/components and MRO/indirect needs, including: production materials, components, MRO supplies, tooling, equipment, facilities purchases, and contract services.

Execute purchasing in an ERP/MRP environment: create/manage purchase orders, track acknowledgements, maintain delivery schedules, and process changes as needed
- Lead RFQ/RFP activity for assigned items/services: identify suppliers, evaluate bids, complete basic cost analysis, and make sourcing recommendations
- Proactively expedite and resolve shortages, late deliveries, and supply disruptions to protect production and inventory objectives
- Build strong supplier relationships focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost
- Maintain accurate supplier data (pricing, lead times, terms, records) in the ERP system
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Production Planning, Quality, and Finance (including support for new parts / new product introductions)
- Support supplier qualification/onboarding and continuous improvement efforts
- Identify practical opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and inventory optimization
Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent education and relevant experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in buying / purchasing / procurement / sourcing in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems
- Experience running RFQs/RFPs and managing supplier communications end-to-end
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with pricing/lead-time data
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical requirements as needed
- Strong follow-through, organization, communication, and negotiation skills
- Comfortable blending purchasing execution with RFQs and supplier management
Preferred (nice to have):

Epicor ERP preferred; similar ERP/MRP systems welcome

CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, CPP (or similar) certifications
- Lean / Six Sigma training or certification
- Experience with ISO 9001 environments and supplier quality practices
- Experience with global sourcing / international suppliers or import/export exposure
