Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our vibrant team dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents. In this role, you will coordinate and facilitate engaging recreational activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for seniors. Your enthusiasm and creativity will help foster a warm, inclusive environment where residents feel valued, connected, and empowered to enjoy each day to the fullest. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults through thoughtful program development and personalized engagement.

Schedule: 8 Hour Shift with Rotating Weekends Required.

Duties

Help plan, organize, and execute a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including social events, games, arts and crafts, and outings
Collaborate with staff to develop activity calendars that promote resident participation and enhance quality of life
Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, needs, and abilities, especially those with memory care or dementia-related conditions
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to ensure comfort and safety
Coordinate resident events by managing schedules, supplies, transportation, and volunteer involvement
Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve programming
Foster a positive community atmosphere by encouraging socialization and supporting residents’ emotional well-being through recreational therapy techniques

Requirements

Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory support programs, and geriatrics best practices
Strong communication skills for engaging with residents, families, and team members effectively
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a geriatric or senior living setting
Ability to develop innovative programs that cater to diverse resident interests and abilities
Demonstrated ability to build meaningful rapport with seniors while promoting independence and social engagement
