McLean Telecom LLC is a telecommunications and fiber infrastructure company specializing in the installation, deployment, and management of fiber optic and communications infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced Telecommunications Project Manager (PM) to oversee projects from initial planning through completion.
The ideal candidate is organized, technically knowledgeable, comfortable working in the field, and capable of coordinating customers, technicians, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Position Overview
The Telecommunications Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple telecommunications projects, including fiber optic, structured cabling, pathway, riser, and network infrastructure installations.
This position requires someone who can move between project planning, field coordination, documentation, customer communication, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage telecommunications projects from kickoff through closeout.
- Develop project schedules, milestones, manpower requirements, and material requirements.
- Coordinate field technicians, subcontractors, vendors, building management, and customers.
- Conduct site walks and review existing pathways, risers, telecom rooms, IDFs, MDFs, pull cans, racks, and cable routes.
- Review drawings, floor plans, cable routes, specifications, and scope of work.
- Track fiber/cable footage, sequential cable numbers, service loops, slack, and cable routing.
- Coordinate cable pulls, terminations, splicing, testing, labeling, and rack installations.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays or scope issues.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and daily field records.
- Track materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor requirements.
- Communicate project status to customers and management.
- Identify change orders and additional scope before work is performed whenever possible.
- Review completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, punch lists, and project closeout.
- Resolve field issues and coordinate solutions with technicians, engineers, customers, and building personnel.
- Maintain organized project files, photos, drawings, test results, and closeout documentation.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and according to schedule.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, fiber optic, structured cabling, electrical, or related construction project management.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and construction practices.
- Experience coordinating field technicians and subcontractors.
- Ability to read construction drawings, floor plans, riser diagrams, and cable pathways.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic cable installation and routing.
- Experience with project scheduling and tracking.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to travel to active job sites throughout Massachusetts and the New England region.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fiber optic outside plant (OSP) or inside plant (ISP) projects.
- Experience with structured cabling and data center installations.
- Experience with telecom rooms, MDF/IDF environments, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
- Experience with project estimating, takeoffs, and change orders.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and/or project management software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Visio, or similar construction/drawing software.
- Fiber optic certification such as FOA CFOT or equivalent.
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification.
- Experience managing commercial construction projects.

You should be comfortable walking a job site, opening a telecom room, talking directly with technicians, reviewing a cable route, identifying a problem, and figuring out how to get the project moving again.

Pay: $70,081.17 - $95,033.24 per year
