Mei Mei Class Instructors teach in-person classes as part of the Culinary Department at Mei Mei. This is a flexible part-time position averaging between 8 to 15 hours per week.

About the Job

Class Instruction

Teach Mei Mei’s cooking classes, all instructors start by learning to teach Dumpling Making Class.
Complete class instructor training, with comprehensive knowledge of content and techniques
Adhere to latest class syllabi, policies, and procedures
Uphold Mei Mei standard for customer experience in all interactions and events
Effectively manage class time including setup, operation, and clean up
Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting during classes to ensure a positive experience by clients and maintain the “above and beyond” Mei Mei brand perception.
This role requires strong attention to detail and an eye for cleanliness

Reporting

Write and post brief closing notes immediately after each class taught reporting on class attendance and participant feedback in applicable Slack channels

Administrative

Communicate relevant student inquiries and feedback via Slack
Clock hours promptly
Maintain familiarity with class marketing collateral and communications

About You

Previous Cooking Class Experience highly preferred
Comfort with public speaking and group facilitation
Enjoys leading groups and engaging with people
Intermediate cooking skills/previous experience cooking professionally
Handles customer-facing interactions with ease and professionalism.
Strong time management, organizational, troubleshooting, and multitasking skills

Working Requirements

Must be able to stand for 4-8 hours
Must be able to work nights and weekends (majority of classes)
Typical class shifts are 4.5 hours
Availability to teach 1-2 classes per week

Compensation and Benefits

Instructor Compensation:
Full Instructor Class $32 - $40 per hour (+tips)
Training Rate Instructor & Assistant $18 per hour (+tips)
