Full Job Description

Location: Lowell, MA
Worksite: BeWell Production Facility, 92 Bolt Street, Lowell, MA
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, approximately 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Employment Type: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Reports To: Cultivation Manager

About the Role

BeWell Organic Medicine is seeking a Cultivation Lead to help lead daily cultivation operations at our Lowell production facility.

The Cultivation Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting the productivity, compliance, and day-to-day execution of the Cultivation department.

Working directly with Cultivation leadership, the Cultivation Lead supervises and task-manages Cultivation Associates while also performing plant-care activities throughout the cannabis cultivation lifecycle.

The Cultivation Lead helps ensure daily, weekly, and quarterly production tasks are completed according to established schedules while maintaining standards related to plant health, productivity, harvest throughput, inventory, facility compliance, and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support daily Cultivation activities according to established production schedules.
Supervise and task-manage Cultivation Associates.
Help plan and coordinate daily assignments to maintain production schedules.
Train employees on cultivation processes, job duties, safety procedures, and company requirements.
Document employee training as required.
Perform hands-on plant care throughout all stages of cannabis cultivation.
Propagate clones from mother plants.
Perform and oversee fertigation and irrigation activities.
Perform and oversee vegetative plant care.
Perform and oversee flowering plant care.
Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) activities.
Harvest cannabis plants.
Support drying and curing of cannabis products for further processing.
Perform green waste grinding and disposal activities.
Clean, sanitize, and decontaminate cultivation areas, materials, equipment, and inputs.
Monitor plant health, productivity, harvest rates, throughput, inventory, and other assigned cultivation metrics.
Support physical and virtual cannabis inventory management.
Operate software and systems used for inventory management, production, building systems, and compliance recordkeeping.
Use systems including Microsoft 365, METRC, and Dutchie as required.
Ensure Cultivation Associates follow company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Maintain accurate and standardized records.
Communicate operational, plant health, inventory, staffing, and facility issues to Cultivation leadership.
Help identify and coordinate solutions to issues affecting production.
Model professional, productive, and compliant workplace behavior.
Follow all applicable company, safety, regulatory, and facility requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Experience performing or managing cannabis cultivation activities preferred.
Experience within the Massachusetts cannabis industry strongly preferred.
Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience preferred.
Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize work to maintain production schedules.
Experience using production and building-management systems.
Experience with Microsoft 365, METRC, and Dutchie, or ability to learn these systems.
Ability to identify and escalate issues involving staffing, scheduling, cultivation operations, or production systems.
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly related to plant care and inventory control.
Experience managing people or processes within a highly regulated environment is a plus.
Familiarity with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission requirements, OSHA requirements, EPA requirements, or similar regulations is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues and coordinate solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
Ability to complete required training, including Responsible Vendor Training (RVT) and company Production policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

Push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of five feet.
Push, pull, transfer, or carry that weight for at least 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.
Work seated or standing at workstations for extended periods.
Climb ladders and stairs.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, bend, and maintain balance while performing job duties.
Frequently use hands and fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, and pinch.
Handle plants and other organic materials daily.
Wear required personal protective equipment.
Work in hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions, including temperatures of 95°F or greater while wearing appropriate PPE.
Visually inspect plants, materials, small parts, computer screens, and work areas.
Communicate effectively with team members and others in a moderate-noise production environment.
