Roxbury Community College Athletics Department is seeking a passionate, experienced Cheerleading & Dance Coach to lead our competitive cheer squad and dance team.The ideal candidate will be skilled in choreography, performance, and team development, with a strong commitment to safety, sportsmanship, and student growth. This role will involve training athletes in cheerleading techniques, dance routines, stunts, tumbling, and performance skills, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-energy team culture
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. Coaches, supervises and develops an intercollegiate varsity team, including in-season and off-season programing, in accordance with institutional and departmental objectives with the rules and regulations of the athletic governing bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development: Design and implement training programs tailored to the skill level of cheerleaders and dancers.

Choreography & Performance: Create and rehearse cheerleading routines, dance sequences, and stunts; select music and costumes.
- Skill Instruction: Teach cheers, stunts, tumbling, dance moves, and performance techniques; ensure proper form and safety.

Team Leadership: Build team spirit, promote positive attitudes, and maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Competition Readiness: Prepare athletes for events, competitions, and performances; ensure compliance with competition rules.

Practice Management: Organize and lead regular practices, including travel logistics for events.

Equipment & Uniforms: Manage and maintain cheerleading and dance equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
Evaluation & Feedback: Assess individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback for improvement.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience as a competitive cheerleader, cheer coach, or dance coach (youth, high school, or collegiate level).

Education: Bachelor's degree in physical education, Sports Management, Dance, or related field (preferred).

Certifications: Cheerleading or dance coaching certification from a recognized organization (e.g., USA Cheer, NFHS).

Skills: Strong leadership, motivational abilities, choreography expertise, safety awareness, and adaptability under pressure.

Other: Ability to work with diverse age groups, communicate effectively, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- This role requires a high-energy, fast-paced environment with frequent travel for competitions and performances. The coach will work closely with athletes, parents, and school staff to support student success both on and off the field.
Additional Information:
Location: 1350 Tremont Street, Roxbury MA 02120
Compensation: $16,000.00 for the season, September 1st - May 15th, 2027
