Full Job Description

Saravia Law is a small but quickly growing law firm based in Arlington, Massachusetts. We specialize in immigration, family law, and estate planning. We are a queer and first-generation immigrant-owned firm with a collegial work environment and a diverse clientele.

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to assist with the day-to-day operations of the office and support our attorneys and legal staff. This is an in-person position focused on client communication, administrative support, case management, and helping the office run smoothly. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment while developing strong administrative, organizational, and client service skills.

This is a part-time, in-person position with an anticipated start date of early September. We are ideally looking for someone who can commit to the position for two years, though a minimum one-year commitment is required.

Pay Range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour will depend on experience.

Responsibilities

Communicate with clients by phone, email, and in person.
Assist with opening, maintaining, and closing cases.
Maintain attorney calendars and assist with office scheduling.
Onboard new clients and follow up with clients and prospective clients.
Send follow-up emails and make follow-up calls.
Scan, organize, upload, and maintain documents and electronic case files.
Assist with drafting routine correspondence, legal forms, and other case-related documents.
Process incoming and outgoing mail.
Assist with billing, document preparation, and case management.
Compile and organize supporting documentation.
Help monitor office inventory and supplies.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Friendly, professional, and client-focused demeanor.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable using technology, including Microsoft Word, PDF software, email, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
Ability to commute to the Arlington office during scheduled working hours.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
Prior office, administrative, or customer service experience.
Interest in the legal field or office administration.
Familiarity with online court filing systems.
Experience with case management software, such as Docketwise.
Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are preferred, but not required.

Job Type: In-person; part-time

Schedule:

Monday through Friday
Our Office Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Specific schedule will be determined based on availability and office needs.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
