About MetroWest Mediation

Founded in 1979, MetroWest Mediation is a non-profit conflict resolution and training center. Our Mission is to facilitate peaceful resolution of disputes within all communities we serve, and through the courts, by supporting people to work together to resolve conflict. Our Vision is for our community to realize the full potential of collaborative conflict resolution.

Manager of Housing Mediation

The Manager of Housing Mediation will serve as the coordinator and primary case manager for the Housing Mediation Program. The Manager will sustain and grow our successful eviction prevention program which has helped over 3000 tenants remain housed over the past 6 years. Through developing deep relationships with community & court partners and demonstrating persistence, problem-solving, and effectiveness in resolving cases, the Manager will ensure that the Housing Mediation Program remains a critical and impactful service.

Serve as the coordinator for all eviction mediation cases, pre-court and court-connected, that are referred to MetroWest Mediation. This includes connecting landlords and tenants to resources such as RAFT, working with partner agencies to address deficiencies, managing volunteer mediators, drafting mediation agreements and handling paperwork and data collection.
Maintain a caseload of approximately 25-40 cases at a time in which you provide direct service to landlords and tenants.
Manage and supervise other staff in the Housing Mediation program. This includes assigning cases, scheduling interpreters, providing support and oversight, and ensuring that cases are handled in a proficient and timely manner.
Attend all Summary Process court sessions, including the Framingham-Natick virtual session, to receive referrals and update the judge on case progress
Lead outreach efforts throughout the catchment area to raise community awareness of Housing Mediation services and their benefits, including holding office hours at the community partners' locations. This includes managing outreach efforts focused on underserved populations.
Coordinate the delivery of remote and in person mediation services including assigning mediators, providing oversight and feedback, and facilitating technology for remote cases.
Complete and maintain case documents including all data collection forms and regularly input data into the RAM database system.
Collaborate with MOPC as needed on program oversight, data collection and evaluation of the Program. This includes attending relevant MOPC meetings.
Assist in conducting and attending Continuing Education trainings in order to develop relevant skills for self and others.
Oversee mediation services for non-eviction Housing cases including MassHousing TAP, neighbor or roommate disputes and other cases per center needs, including handling intakes, scheduling mediations, tracking time, and other follow-up as needed
Assist with the center’s trainings including the 30-hour mediation training
Develop strong working partnerships with staff at housing assistance agencies, social service partners, municipalities, courts, and other partners to further the program goals
Report to and work in cooperation with the Executive Director to ensure program quality assurance and furtherance of the mission of the Center

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in housing mediation or eviction prevention services
Experience and demonstrated success in case management and program administration
Proficiency with email, Adobe PDF, Microsoft office, and ability to learn new computer programs
Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain and nurture relationships with partners
Ability to manage large caseload with multiple priorities
Ability to work independently, utilize sound judgment in making decisions, and appropriately incorporate guidance from supervisors
Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic diversity and the needs of individuals with low incomes
Completion of a Basic Mediation Training of at least 30 hours and the ability to mediate independently

Start Date and Schedule

Start date will be September 1, 2026. It is expected that the outgoing Manager of Housing Mediation will be available in a contract-role to support the new Manager in September and October.

The Manager of Housing Mediation will work in our Natick-based office from Monday-Thursday and work remotely on Fridays. Hours can be flexible given the need to work the occasional evening or weekend.
