Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, where your expertise will drive the accuracy and efficiency of our medical billing processes. In this vital role, you will utilize your knowledge of medical coding guidelines, insurance claim processing, and revenue cycle management to ensure timely reimbursement and precise record-keeping. Your attention to detail and understanding of electronic health record (EHR) systems will contribute significantly to the seamless operation of our healthcare services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and administrative excellence.

Duties

Accurately assign ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes to medical records for inpatient and outpatient services following coding guidelines.
Review and interpret medical records, documentation, and physician notes to ensure proper coding for billing purposes.
Prepare and submit health insurance claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with third-party payer requirements.
Resolve claim denials or rejections by investigating issues related to insurance coverage, coding errors, or missing information.
Manage the revenue cycle by tracking outstanding accounts receivable, following up on unpaid claims, and facilitating collections when necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards, and health insurance policies to ensure accurate billing practices.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to verify patient information, update medical records, and improve billing workflows.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting or medical office environment.
Strong understanding of ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding systems, as well as DRG classifications for inpatient services.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding processes.
Knowledge of health insurance claim processing procedures, third-party billing practices, and revenue cycle management.
Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately while adhering to medical coding guidelines.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple claims simultaneously.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
