Cache River Mill & MetalWorks is seeking dependable, skilled individuals to join our production team as Millwork Craftsmen, Cabinet Makers, or Craftsman Apprentices.
We are looking for people who enjoy working with their hands, take pride in building high-quality products, and want to develop a long-term career in custom architectural millwork. Applicants may range from experienced cabinetmakers and woodworkers to motivated apprentices who have the mechanical ability and work ethic needed to learn the trade.
Our craftsmen build much more than standard cabinets. Cache River Mill & MetalWorks produces custom architectural millwork, casework, doors, mouldings, furniture, specialty woodwork, and other one-of-a-kind elements for commercial and residential projects. Every project is different, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and seeing a project develop from drawings and raw materials into a finished product.

Cache River Mill & MetalWorks combines traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing technology. Our North Little Rock facility includes cabinet production, custom moulding, doors, CNC machining, metalwork, finishing, engineering, and other specialized capabilities.

Position Responsibilities
Depending on experience and department assignment, responsibilities may include:
- Building custom cabinets, casework, furniture, doors, mouldings, and architectural millwork
- Reading and interpreting shop drawings, plans, specifications, and cut lists
- Cutting, shaping, assembling, sanding, and preparing wood products and components
- Operating woodworking tools, machinery, and production equipment
- Performing cabinet and millwork assembly using appropriate fasteners, adhesives, and joinery methods
- Installing hardware, trim, panels, and other components
- Inspecting completed work for accuracy, quality, fit, and finish
- Measuring carefully and working within required tolerances
- Identifying problems and communicating questions before they affect production
- Working with project managers, engineers, production leadership, and other craftsmen
- Tracking time accurately and remaining clocked into the correct project or production phase
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work area
- Following all company safety procedures and equipment requirements
- Protecting finished products from damage throughout the production process
- Helping projects move through the shop efficiently and on schedule
- Assisting and training in other production departments when needed
Experienced Craftsman or Cabinet Maker Qualifications
Strong candidates for an experienced position may have:
- Previous experience in cabinetmaking, architectural millwork, woodworking, furniture building, finish carpentry, or a similar trade
- Knowledge of cabinet construction and millwork assembly methods
- Experience working from detailed shop drawings
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery
- Strong measuring, layout, and mathematical skills
- An understanding of wood species, sheet goods, laminates, veneers, adhesives, hardware, and related materials
- The ability to produce accurate, high-quality work with limited supervision
- Experience in a custom production environment where projects and specifications frequently change
- A strong commitment to craftsmanship, productivity, and safety
Experience with CNC equipment, commercial casework, custom doors, moulding, laminates, veneers, or architectural woodworking is beneficial but not required for every position.
Craftsman Apprentice Qualifications
Previous professional woodworking experience is helpful but is not required for the right apprentice candidate.
A successful apprentice should have:
- A strong desire to learn woodworking, cabinetmaking, and architectural millwork
- Mechanical ability and comfort working with tools
- The ability to read a tape measure accurately or the willingness to learn quickly
- Dependability and consistent attendance
- A strong work ethic and willingness to accept instruction
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work productively as part of a team
- A commitment to workplace safety
- Pride in doing quality work
- The patience and discipline required to develop a skilled trade
Experience in construction, finish carpentry, furniture building, manufacturing, maintenance, machine operation, welding, or another hands-on trade may transfer well into this position.

Physical and Work Requirements
This is an active, hands-on production position. Employees must be able to:
- Stand and work on the production floor for extended periods
- Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive production tasks
- Safely lift and move materials, components, and finished products
- Work around woodworking machinery, dust-collection equipment, and normal shop noise
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Follow established safety procedures at all times
