Full Job Description

This role in the Juneau County Finance Department assists with accounting and financial reporting, reviews departmental documentation, and supports various special assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review budget documents with department staff.
Support general accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management.
Supervise payroll processing, benefit reconciliations, and required tax reporting.
Manage federal and state grant reporting and act as fiscal agent for assigned grants.
Complete financial reconciliations, account analysis, and departmental financial reports.
Assist departments with accounting practices, policies, and procedures.
Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during financial and compliance audits.
Review revenues and expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets.
Provide input on financial system functionality and improvements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Strong understanding of accounting principles and GASB standards.
Experience with municipal budgeting and financial reporting.
Ability to analyze complex financial data and solve problems effectively.
Proficiency with accounting and financial software.
Strong organization, time management, and record‑keeping skills.
Ability to interpret regulations and apply accounting policies accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or Business Administration.
Three years of progressively responsible municipal accounting or finance experience.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
