Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Toolmaker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in tooling, machining, and fabrication processes. This role involves overseeing the production of precision tools and components, ensuring adherence to quality standards while leading a team of toolmakers. The Lead Toolmaker will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques and equipment to produce high-quality tools that meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of toolmakers in the production of tooling and components.
Operate CNC lathe and CNC milling machines with precision, ensuring accurate machining processes.
Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks for designing tooling and fixtures.
Program CNC machines using CAM programming techniques for efficient production.
Perform electrical discharge machining as required for complex tooling applications.
Implement GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) practices to ensure quality control.
Conduct assembly of tools and components, ensuring all specifications are met.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other tools to verify dimensions.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues related to tooling design or manufacturing processes.

Requirements

Proven experience as a toolmaker or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CNC programming and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines.
Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.
Familiarity with plastics injection molding techniques is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Solid understanding of math principles related to machining and tooling operations.
Experience with stamping press operations is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
