Full Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to support our injection molding operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex molds and tooling used in high-volume plastic injection processes. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on machining experience, a deep understanding of mold construction, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Build, modify, and repair plastic injection molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures
Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on tooling to minimize downtime
Diagnose mold issues related to part defects, wear, or mechanical failure
Operate manual and CNC machines including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment
Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tool performance and part quality
Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities
Ensure all work meets tight tolerances and quality standards required for automotive production
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (Tool & Die certification or apprenticeship preferred)
5+ years of experience in tool and die making within injection molding or similar manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of mold components, hot runner systems, and cooling systems
Proficiency in machining operations (manual and/or CNC)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in automotive manufacturing (IATF 16949 environment a plus)
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
Welding experience (TIG/MIG for tool repair)
Knowledge of mold flow and part defect analysis

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Prolonged standing, bending, and working with machinery
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures
