What we’re looking for
The Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring accurate patient and insurance information is obtained and entered into the scheduling or registration system. This role also obtains pre-certification or authorization numbers as required and serves as a point of contact for incoming phone calls related to scheduling services.
How you’ll contribute

Schedules patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring appropriate personnel and resources are available.

Obtains physician orders and required authorization or pre-certification and enters outpatient procedures into the Order Entry System.

Obtains and accurately enters patient insurance information into scheduling or registration systems.

Ensures consistency between the scheduling module and admissions module for patients being admitted for services.

Notifies patients or physician office staff of carriers that are out of network or any issue that may impact insurance benefits.

Communicates special instructions, testing requirements, and other pertinent information to patients or physician office staff.

Maintains awareness of scheduling reports for upcoming services to ensure patient registration staff are informed and appropriate staff and time are available.

Answers incoming phone calls related to scheduling and patient services.
Additional Information:
The PRN Scheduler will be obtaining authorizations for Outpatient Services and will also train with Imaging Scheduling team as well as Surgical team.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years of directly related experience may be substituted for required education.
Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred. Medical terminology, billing, and/or collections experience preferred.
Computer experience required.
