- Localized Battery Assembly: In addition to solar hardware, we have established strategic domestic manufacturing collaborations to assemble our advanced residential and commercial energy storage systems right here in the U.S., maximizing supply chain resilience.
4. The IRA Advantage: Unbeatable Product Competitiveness
- 10% Extra Tax Credit (Domestic Content Adder): As a "Made in USA" champion, our highly localized product architecture allows utility and commercial developers to secure the additional 10% Domestic Content Bonus under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), giving our product managers an unbeatable pricing edge over foreign competitors.
Position Description
A leading global renewable energy solutions provider is aggressively expanding its Utility-scale and C&I Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) System Integration business in North America. We are seeking a high-caliber Product Strategy & Management professional to sit at the critical intersection of technical product development, market intelligence, and commercial execution.
This role is responsible for translating US market signals, developer/IPP requirements, and competitive dynamics into actionable product strategies, prioritized roadmap development, and robust go-to-market plans for our next-generation integrated energy storage platforms.
The ideal candidate brings direct experience from a top-tier BESS system integrator or a major tier-1 battery manufacturer’s US operations. You must possess a strong blend of technical depth—understanding how integrated BESS platforms (DC blocks, AC blocks, and skids) are engineered—and commercial acumen regarding how they are sold, priced, and structured for project finance in the US market.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership
- Define, maintain, and execute the multi-year BESS product roadmap, aligning technology availability with client technical requirements and clear market gaps.
- Conduct rigorous, continuous competitive intelligence across the US utility and C&I storage landscape (tracking competitor product lines, technical specs, pricing matrices, warranty terms, and software capabilities).
- Establish distinct product positioning strategy frameworks across key market verticals: Utility-scale FTM, Commercial & Industrial (C&I), Community Storage, and Data Center Behind-the-Meter (BTM) applications.
- Drive strategic evaluation and go/no-go decisions on hardware feature additions, cell/DC block supplier transitions, and Gen-2 system architectures.
- Monitor the evolving US energy policy landscape (IRA Domestic Content rules, FEOC definitions, Section 301 tariffs) to assess direct impacts on product positioning and BOM optimization.
- Product Management & Commercial Go-to-Market
- Develop and update technical configuration guides, standardized pricing frameworks, and solution matrix comparison tools for Sales and Business Development leadership.
- Own the creation of comprehensive "bankability packages," including Lender Engineering (LE)-ready documentation, UL9540/9540A test data packages, and NFPA 855 compliance materials.
- Formulate robust product warranty strategies and availability guarantee structures in close coordination with tier-1 cell OEMs and internal risk/finance teams.
- Synthesize win/loss pipeline data from the field to generate strategic product feedback and create targeted sales enablement materials (technical battle cards, presentations, and product one-pagers).
- Business Planning & Market Intelligence
- Build and own US storage market-sizing models (TAM/SAM/SOM analysis) broken down by region and application.
- Author annual product business plans outlining volume forecasts, ASP/margin models, and capacity commitment targets.
- Structure executive-level strategic briefings and regular HQ updates analyzing competitor market share, project contract wins, and pricing trends.
- Global HQ & Cross-Functional Liaison
- Serve as the primary US-side technical and strategic bridge to Global R&D and engineering headquarters (conducting deep-dive reviews and communicating in Korean as necessary).
- Align cross-functional deliverables across internal Engineering, Procurement, Sales, EPC, Project Finance, and Legal to ensure product strategy matches execution reality.Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 5–9 years of dedicated experience in the energy storage or renewable energy industry, with at least 3 years in a product management, product strategy, technical marketing, or business development role.
- Direct experience working inside a prominent BESS system integrator, clean-tech developer, or major global battery OEM's US operations is highly prioritized.
- Proven understanding of how utility-scale storage products are specified, procured, financed, and deployed in the US market.
- Technical Domain Knowledge
- Solid working knowledge of utility-scale BESS architecture: DC Blocks, AC Blocks, Skid-integration, LFP cell chemistry selection, PCS/BMS/EMS integration, thermal management, and fire safety systems.
- Familiarity with critical performance metrics: Round-Trip Efficiency (RTE), State of Health (SOH), degradation/cycle life modeling, and Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS).
- Clear understanding of IRA Domestic Content Adder (DCA) rules, FEOC compliance, and safety standards (UL9540, UL9540A, UL1973, NFPA 855).
- Basic understanding of US utility interconnection rules (IEEE 1547, UL1741) and ISO grid services (frequency regulation, capacity, arbitrage)
- Commercial & Communication Skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for building financial P&L models, market sizing frameworks, and executive-ready presentations.
- English: Full professional proficiency required for client, lender, and utility-facing communication.
- Korean: Conversational to professional working proficiency strongly preferred for seamless technical and strategic alignment with Global R&D/HQ teams.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with leading BESS EMS, Virtual Power Plant (VPP), or wholesale market optimization software platforms.
- Prior hands-on experience driving Lender Engineering (LE) technical diligence reviews (e.g., DNV, Bureau Veritas) or managing tax equity data rooms.
- Familiarity with market structures across CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, and NYISO, including revenue stacking strategies.
- Existing professional network among US developers, IPPs, utilities, and major battery supply chain players.
