Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive clinical background, demonstrating expertise in inpatient and outpatient care across diverse medical settings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality patient care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to improved health outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment. Candidates with experience in critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or complex medical management are encouraged to apply. The position emphasizes a commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and vital sign monitoring, to establish accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Manage acute and chronic medical conditions across various specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, specialists, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive care delivery within hospital and outpatient settings.
Perform procedures including suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, spinal taps, and basic life support interventions as required.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and clinical data management.
Participate in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient safety and care standards.
Provide triage services in emergency or urgent care settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.
Administer medications and injections following proper protocols while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Engage in discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to optimize patient outcomes post-hospitalization or during outpatient visits.
Offer specialized services such as botulinum toxin treatments for neurological conditions or esthetic laser treatments for cosmetic procedures when applicable.
Maintain proficiency in ICD-10 coding standards and CPT coding for billing accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Support telehealth consultations to extend access to care beyond traditional settings.
Ensure infection control practices are rigorously followed during all procedures including sterile processing techniques.

Skills

Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and data retrieval.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology (including psychopharmacology), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Proficiency in performing advanced procedures like gastrostomy tube feeding management, ventilator support, cardiac catheterization assistance, sonography, and laboratory specimen collection/processing.
Familiarity with diverse clinical environments including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), trauma centers (Level I & II), emergency rooms, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice & palliative medicine settings, and post-acute care environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases involving infectious disease care, acute pain management, occupational health issues, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, memory care units, and behavioral health concerns.
Competence in handling special populations such as children (pediatrics), elderly patients (geriatrics), individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized nursing home or home care services.
Skilled in performing invasive procedures like spinal taps or catheterizations while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law and utilization management processes for comprehensive case oversight.
Effective communication skills tailored for multidisciplinary team collaboration and patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition or chronic disease management.
