ABOUT RIO DELTA ENGINEERING

Rio Delta Engineering is a growing civil engineering and surveying firm serving the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas. Founded in 2005, the company delivers high-quality, cost-effective solutions in civil engineering, land development, surveying, and project management while maintaining strong client relationships. Known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and community impact, Rio Delta partners with municipalities, developers, and private clients to deliver practical, buildable infrastructure that supports long-term regional growth.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Engineer assists in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of land development and civil engineering projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position supports the Engineering Department through technical design, construction document preparation, project coordination, field observations, and client communication and client invoicing.

The Graduate Engineer works collaboratively with internal departments, municipalities, consultants, contractors, and clients to support successful project delivery while maintaining Rio Delta Engineering’s standards of professionalism, quality, and client service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the design and development of land development and civil engineering projects.
Prepare construction documents including paving, grading, drainage, utility, detention, water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer plans.
Interpret engineering drawings, survey data, plats, and technical information.
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software to prepare design plans and exhibits.
Perform engineering calculations, quantity estimates, and technical analysis.
Assist in preparing engineering reports, proposals, fee estimates, and project documentation.
Support Project Managers and Professional Engineers with project coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and deliverable tracking.
Coordinate with municipalities, utility providers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
Maintain communication with clients regarding project progress, schedules, invoicing, and deliverables.
Perform field observations and site visits to verify compliance with engineering plans and specifications.
Document field observations through notes, sketches, photographs, and reports.
Assist in troubleshooting engineering and construction-related issues and developing practical solutions.
Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, engineering standards, and company procedures.
Maintain accurate project documentation and daily electronic timekeeping records.
Promote a collaborative, professional, and team-oriented work environment while performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
Working knowledge of civil engineering principles, land development practices, and engineering design standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
Basic understanding of engineering and technical drawing principles.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and technologies.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates primarily in an office environment using computers and standard office equipment. While performing job duties, the employee may be required to:

Sit for extended periods of time
Occasionally stand, walk, and lift up to 25-50 pounds

This role is based in a professional office setting with occasional visits
