Baseline Annual Salary: $175K. Hope and Healing Clinic is seeking a Medical Provider who is eager to provide high-quality care for patients in Tumwater, WA.
The Medical Provider's primary responsibility is to evaluate opioid use disorder and to prescribe and adjust appropriate opioid use disorder treatment medications as indicated. These include methadone, buprenorphine/naloxone, and naltrexone. Medical Providers also evaluate and treat other co-occurring substance use disorders when indicated. The individual in this position shall be a licensed physician or nurse practitioner.
Hope and Healing Clinic believes that Medication Assisted Treatment is the most evidence-based and patient-centered model of care for treating opioid use disorder. The Medical Provider should adhere to and value the philosophical priorities of Harm Reduction and treat all patients respect, compassion, and dignity. The Medical Provider will report directly to the Medical Director.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all clinic policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation of treatment records and any other documentation required by federal, state, and local agencies
- Ensure that the clinic protects the rights and confidentiality of all patients
- Conduct intake medical assessment and diagnosis and determine initial medication choice and dose
- Conduct patient dose evaluations and change medications as indicated
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and make appropriate recommendations for follow-up
- Document findings and decision-making about care in electronic health record
- Maintain timely and appropriate communication and attend meetings as requested
- Facilitate appropriate communication and referrals with outside medical providers for needed care and follow-up
- Evaluate, as necessary, patients with urgent or emergency medical needs and determine if further medical assistance is necessary
- Write medical orders for all take-home privileges, seeking regulatory exceptions as necessary
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with CFR-related privacy principles and HIPAA policies and procedures
- Interact with all staff in a positive and motivational fashion supporting the clinic's mission and commitment to patient experience
Position Requirements:
- Nurse Practitioners are required to have an active license in the state of Washington.
- All Medical Providers must have Schedule II - V prescriptive authority from the State of Washington.
Experience:
- At least one year of experience treating substance use disorders is preferred but not required.
- Experience working within an Opioid Treatment Program will be given hiring preference.
- Applicants should be comfortable with, and desire for working with, patients with substance use disorders, behavioral health diagnoses, and socioeconomic challenges.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job:
- A majority of the work shift is sitting at a desk in front of a computer. Will spend some time on feet while interacting with patients and staff. Should have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. as may be responsible for carrying heavy files.

- The nature of this position, as with most within substance use disorder treatment and outreach, may at times be fast-paced with high-stress situations and conditions. A successful applicant will be adaptive with respect to patient needs and scheduling and will seek a position that offers a rewarding experience in offering recovery to those in crisis within a positive, patient-centered workplace.
- This position primarily involves working onsite in the clinic, with occasional travel to nearby locations to support Mobile Unit operations. Travel is limited to a small geographic area. The exact schedule and time spent at each location may vary depending on site needs.
Applicants Should:
- Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, electronic medical records systems, preferably Kipu, and a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.
- Be willing to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside contacts from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and possess strong conflict-resolution, interpersonal communication, and time management skills
- Be able to pass required background checks
- Comply with all other testing, screening, and credentialing as required
Safety-Sensitive Position & Pre-Employment Drug Testing
This position is designated safety-sensitive under the clinic's Pre-Employment Drug Testing Policy because impairment while performing its duties presents a substantial risk of death. As a condition of any offer of employment, candidates must complete pre-employment drug testing, including a verified negative cannabis screen, before their start date. This requirement applies even if the candidate holds a valid Washington State medical cannabis authorization. The clinic maintains this standard to protect the safety of patients, staff, and the communities we serve. A candidate who does not receive a verified negative result, or who refuses or fails to complete required testing, may have their conditional offer withdrawn.
