Legal Secretary

Location: Morrow, GA
Salary: 23 per hour
Short Contract -End Date October 19th

Position Summary

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to provide administrative and legal support to the Legal Services, Victim Services, and Fiscal departments.

Working under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Legal Secretary will prepare and file legal documents, maintain case files and court calendars, support conflict case assignments, and provide professional assistance to internal departments, clients, visitors, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing confidential information, and able to balance multiple priorities in a deadline-driven legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, request, process, and serve legal documents, including subpoenas, motions, discovery materials, and related case documents.
Compile legal documents with supporting case and file information.
File pleadings and other legal documents with the appropriate courts, including electronic filing.
Research information needed to complete legal documents and assignments.
Prepare legal descriptions, agreements, drafts, letters, reports, summaries, and correspondence.
Finalize approved documents, maintain copies for departmental files, and distribute materials to the appropriate parties.
Create, organize, and maintain legal and case files.
Enter and update information in departmental databases and case-management systems.
Maintain court calendars, deadlines, and other scheduling information.
Enter case information into the Tracker case-management system.
Assist with the management and preparation of conflict case assignments.
Answer telephone calls, greet clients and visitors, and provide professional assistance.
Perform general administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
Assist with GCIC-related responsibilities and successfully complete required GCIC training.
Support the Legal Services, Victim Services, and Fiscal departments as needed.
Perform other related duties assigned by the Deputy Director.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
At least three years of professional experience in a legal environment.
Experience preparing, organizing, and maintaining legal documents and case files.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience supporting a prosecutor’s office, government legal department, law firm, or similar legal environment.
Experience filing pleadings and legal documents electronically.
Experience using legal case-management or document-management systems.
Experience using Tracker is highly preferred.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Experience maintaining court calendars and monitoring legal deadlines.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Strong customer-service skills when assisting internal and external customers.
Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong legal administrative background and experience supporting attorneys or legal departments. They should be dependable, professional, and comfortable preparing legal documents, maintaining case records, tracking deadlines, communicating with courts and stakeholders, and providing administrative support across multiple departments.

Candidates with prosecution support, government legal experience, GCIC familiarity, or Tracker experience will be especially strong matches.
