The Clinical & Fulfillment Staff Pharmacist

The clinical and fulfillment staff pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of specialty medications while providing clinical expertise, patient support, and operational oversight. This role ensures adherence to all applicable federal and state regulations, FDA requirements, manufacturer contractual agreements, accreditation standards, and internal quality assurance processes. The Clinical & Fulfillment Staff Pharmacist supports exceptional patient outcomes through medication management, quality improvement initiatives, staff development, and efficient pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

Review, verify, and approve prescriptions to ensure accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and pharmacy standards.
Perform final quality assurance checks on all dispensed medications to ensure patient safety, accuracy, and compliance with internal pharmacy procedures.
Provide medication counseling and clinical support to patients, ensuring understanding of therapies, proper administration, storage requirements, potential side effects, and adherence expectations.
Conduct drug utilization reviews and monitor, document, and report adverse events, medication errors, and product complaints in accordance with regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities, including medication error reporting, root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and process improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, FDA requirements, manufacturer contractual obligations, accreditation standards, HIPAA requirements, and internal pharmacy policies.
Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and quality assurance support to pharmacy technicians, fulfillment staff, patient advocates, interns, and other pharmacy team members.
Promote best practices in pharmacy operations, workflow efficiency, medication safety, and patient-centered care.
Assist with payer, manufacturer, accreditation, and regulatory audits by providing clinical expertise and supporting required documentation.
Support the development and implementation of clinical programs, pharmacy protocols, and initiatives designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve operational performance.
Provide training and mentorship to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and enhance the overall patient experience.
Assume management responsibility for pharmacy operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the pharmacy department while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Active, unencumbered licensure as a pharmacist within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PharmD), or equivalent in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution.
Previous experience in specialty pharmacy or mail order pharmacy preferred
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
