Tax Manager | Partner Track Opportunity

Plano, Texas

A real route to equity, backed by a genuine succession plan

Plenty of Tax Manager roles mention future partnership.

Very few are hiring because a Partner is expected to retire within the next three to five years.

That is what makes this opportunity different.

An established independent CPA firm in Plano TX is looking for a Tax Manager who wants more than another portfolio, another busy season, and another vague conversation about progression.

The firm has a real leadership need ahead of it. One of the current Partners plans to retire, and the business wants to bring in the right person early enough to build trust, strengthen client relationships, take on wider responsibility, and develop into a future Partner and equity owner.

Nothing is automatic. Partnership would need to be earned through performance, relationships, leadership, and mutual fit.

But the opportunity is real, the reason for the hire is clear, and the path has substance behind it.

Why this could be a better long term move

You would join a stable firm with long standing clients, an experienced Partner group, and a clear reason to invest in your development.

Instead of waiting for someone above you to move or hoping a larger firm eventually notices your contribution, you would be joining a practice where your impact will be visible from the start.

You will work directly with the Partners, become closely involved in important client relationships, and gradually take on broader leadership responsibilities as the succession plan develops.

The firm also offers Fridays off throughout June and July, giving the team a genuine break after the heavier part of the year.

This is the type of role that can offer both ambition and stability.

You can continue developing technically, strengthen your advisory experience, become more influential within the firm, and work toward ownership without giving up the benefits of a smaller, relationship driven practice.

What you will build here

Your role will go beyond managing deadlines and reviewing returns.

You will lead tax planning and compliance work across individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and small businesses.

You will manage relationships with long standing clients and become someone they trust with important decisions, not simply their annual filings.

You will review the work of staff and seniors, help develop their technical ability, and play a meaningful part in building the next layer of the team.

You will work closely with the Partners on more complex tax matters, planning opportunities, client strategy, and the wider direction of the practice.

Over time, you will be expected to take on greater responsibility for clients, people, leadership, and firm development as the planned transition moves forward.

The long term goal is for the right person to position themselves for partnership and future equity.

Who is likely to succeed

This opportunity is likely to suit a CPA with strong public accounting tax experience who is already operating at Tax Manager level.

You should be comfortable leading client relationships, reviewing complex work, developing staff, and handling responsibility without needing constant direction.

The firm is looking for someone steady, credible, and relationship focused.

Someone who wants to earn trust over time.

Someone who is interested in helping shape a firm, rather than simply managing a book of business.

Someone who sees partnership as a responsibility as well as a career milestone.

This will probably not suit someone looking for a short term move, a quick title change, or a guaranteed promotion without first proving the fit.

It is better suited to a Tax Manager who wants to build something lasting and who values the chance to become genuinely important to the future of a firm.
