Full Job Description

THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 3 for the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, you will play a key part in organizing appeal files and supporting Board operations. You will help staff, claimants, and employers by answering questions and guiding information requests. This position gives you the opportunity to further your clerical experience and expand up on your decision processing skills. Apply today to help ensure fair and timely results for the public.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the second level appeal process by handling case files, correspondence, draft decisions, and public inquiries for the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review. It ensures cases move through each step smoothly and that accurate information is shared with the public and staff. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:

Appeal Processing: Handle draft decisions, reconsideration requests, and appeals returned from the court
Public Assistance: Answer phone calls, greet visitors, and provide information after checking entitlement
Case Review: Check appeal case files for required documents, exhibits, transcripts, and accuracy
Document Handling: Prepare correspondence, gather requested materials, and send information through mail or electronic methods
Record Management: Log case actions, route correspondence, upload files, and maintain case materials
Meeting Support: Assist in preparing agendas, distributing decisions, and communicating with Board members

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may be negotiable.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
