Full Job Description

Jardin is searching for its next culinary leader! Jardin is a European-inspired all day wine bar & café with a substantial patio & dining salon along with the wine bar/bottle shop. We are located in a historic building on the corner of Lombardy & West Main in the heart of the Fan neighborhood. We are in our fifth year of operation and we have a staff of 18 between the front of house, back of house and bakery teams. Our management team consists of a group of long tenured employees and experienced hospitality professionals consisting of our General Manager, AM & PM Assistant Managers, Wine Buyer & Head Baker, along with the Ownership group.

Jardin is open all day Tuesday-Sunday with extended hours on Friday & Saturday and an abbreviated dinner service on Sunday. We keep a menu rooted in seasonality, honest ingredients and a sharable style that pairs well with a wide variety of wines.

Job duties include (but are not limited to);

Leading the BOH staff in all things including training, service, education, backend logistics, maintenance requests, morale, scheduling, manager meetings, hiring and firing of staff, etc.
Coordinating with the General Manager & Company Executive Chef to ensure a high quality and consistent product, providing steady leadership for the staff, and promoting a convivial atmosphere for the guests. You are the chief communicator and the glue among the BOH, Bakery & FOH.
Running service- This is a “hands on” Head Chef position, not an office manager job. You will be expected to work 4 days of service and to be involved in preparation & execution of dishes, cleaning, maintenance & management of service.
This position requires aspects of guest service and wine knowledge. You will be expected to interact with guests at the bar & register.
Being the primary point of contact for guests with concerns or complaints around food & culinary related items
Being able to walk up and down stairs, carry a case of wine or a bag of flour (up to 50 lbs) up one or two flights of steps consistently
Being available to work nights, weekends & holidays.

Ideal candidates would;

Enjoy people- staff, customers, co-workers, purveyors, delivery drivers, the pest management sprayer- you name it. This is a social job, and being happy in a customer forward and hands-on staff management role while bringing energy to work is paramount.

Be a confident but diplomatic dissenter when called for- we’re not looking for “yes men”.
Have a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage with extra points for a background in French cuisine or wine (though not necessary).
Be a proactive problem solver and critical thinker who is comfortable making decisions and “driving the bus” for the restaurant.
Have an understanding of ordering, scheduling, labor models, menu design/execution & food costing.

Donnie Glass (Founder and President of GHG)- Donnie is active in all of the Grisette Family of restaurants on a daily basis, both behind the scenes and to work shifts in the BOH and FOH.
Dylan Nemetz (Partner and GHG Executive Chef)- Dylan leads the culinary efforts across all of our restaurants and is regularly scheduled at all of them.
Jess Wilkinson (GHG Human Resources and Administrative Director)- Jess is the key to keeping the backend organized, shouldering the load of Point of Sale operations, payroll, onboarding of new employees, managing PTO, and driving logistics. She was the opening GM of Beaucoup, and is also available to work FOH shifts to cover when needed.
Andy McClure (Partner and CFO of GHG)- Andy keeps our books tightly balanced and provides detailed monthly and quarterly analytical analysis of restaurant financial performance.
Vincent Falcone (General Manager) - Vinnie is a tenured hospitality professional with 23 years of experience in FOH & BOH roles. He’s your day to day partner in restaurant operation and the in-house lead manager.

Compensation and Benefits-

Compensation package- total $80,000/yr

$70k base salary
Bonuses up to $8k annually ($2k/quarter) based on COGS and Labor
Monthly healthcare stipend
Financial relocation assistance available if needed
