POSITION SUMMARY
Front Desk Supervisor supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Front Desk Supervisor at Grants Pass YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The YMCA Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the front desk, including greeting members, managing membership transactions, handling inquiries, enforcing facility policies, training new staff, and ensuring a positive member experience while upholding the YMCA's mission and values, all while maintaining a clean and organized front desk area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Member Engagement & Relationship Building: Provide exceptional customer service to members, guests, and prospective members, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Develop intentional relationships that strengthen members’ connection to the Y. Conduct facility tours and promote membership benefits to encourage participation, engagement, and retention.
- Front Desk Operations: Oversee daily front desk operations, including member and guest check-in, program registration, membership enrollment, renewals, cancellations, and account updates. Provide telephone support and respond to general inquiries. Promote YMCA programs and services to support membership growth.
- Financial & Transaction Oversight: Process and monitor financial transactions accurately, including membership payments, program fees, and account adjustments. Maintain balanced cash tills and complete end-of-shift reports. Ensure all transactions comply with YMCA policies and confidentiality standards.
- Staff Supervision & Development: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise Front Desk staff. Provide training on YMCA policies, procedures, and front desk and membership systems. Monitor performance, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development. Foster a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with YMCA values.
- Volunteer Coordination & Support: Provide leadership, training, and ongoing support for volunteers assisting with front desk operations. Serve as a point of contact for volunteers, ensuring appropriate scheduling.
- Leadership & Communication: Serve as a key liaison between front desk staff, volunteers, and YMCA leadership. Communicate operational updates, member concerns, and support needs effectively. Lead by example, promoting character development and upholding YMCA values in all interactions.
- Safety, Risk Management & Emergency Response: Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Respond to, document, and report incidents appropriately. Serve as a point of contact during emergencies. Maintain required certifications (CPR/AED and First Aid) and ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures. Conduct safety checks and drills as requested.
- Compliance & Operational Excellence: Ensure compliance with all YMCA policies and operational standards. Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, service quality, and member satisfaction.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
- The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- 6 months of related experience/training/supervising in customer service, sales or related experience member services operations is beneficial.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- Basic knowledge of computers and experience with database management preferred.
- Active listening and conflict resolution skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends.
- YMCA Team Leader certification started upon hire.
Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour
